Claire’s journey began in 2008, as a Police Officer for six years in the Metropolitan Police, in London. In 2014, she started to yearn for more control over her working life and decided out of the blue, that she wanted to become an entrepreneur. She had no financial backing, no entrepreneurial family or friends and no experience. What she did have was a burning desire to teach herself what she needed to know. In June 2014, Claire quit the police to pursue her passion. Following her love of afternoon tea and all things vintage, she decided she wanted to open a vintage catering and tearoom business. She bought boxes of vintage china and a defunct Facebook page and turned them into a thriving six figure mobile vintage catering business. She gained high profile and repeat clients, won multiple business awards including from Theo Paphitis and Jacqueline Gold and received press coverage. Claire’s business was named one of Small Business Saturday’s Top 100 businesses in the UK and she attended a private reception at 10 Downing Street. She expanded her business, took on employees and opened her first commercial premises - a Tearoom. In 2018, things started to shift. The gruelling workload that she had - although she was very grateful for - often meant she had multiple bookings on the same day to manage, in different parts of the UK and constant emails to be responding to. She couldn’t switch off and started to have those same yearnings for something new. A holiday to Italy in 2017, gave her clarity. Although it was her first time visiting the country, she felt an inner connection. Claire decided for the first time in her life, that she wanted to become an Expat and move there. In August 2018, she made the move to Italy solo, having left her business and secured a job in Italy as an English teacher. She didn’t speak the language and hardly knew anyone there. On paper it sounds completely bonkers but in reality, she says it was the making of her. Three years in and she has found her balance. She wrote a book, detailing the life lessons she learnt along the way and has started a new concept and brand - Ms Britaly - where through her YouTube channel, Instagram and blog, she shares her experiences of living in Italy. She has already gained press coverage in Italy about it and feels that she’s only just scratched the surface. Claire has learnt a lot through her business and career - including a lot of work on personal development and mindset. In turn this has helped her to become courageous and adapt - and in turn she would like to help you to do the same, so you can realise your dreams.
