Lorraine Levis is a Key Account Executive at Penguin Random House, an Irish Times columnist and a soon-to-be published writer with her non-fiction book coming out this autumn. While studying for an English Literature degree in UCD, Lorraine worked in Barker and Jones in Naas, moving on to Dubray in Blackrock after graduating in 2015. In Dubray she was the Children's Buyer, meeting publisher representatives visiting month by month selling the new titles available. She also met her predecessor from Penguin, and as they moved on she decided to apply for the position of Key Account Executive for Children's Literature which she received. The idea for her premier novel came after she spoke at Dubray's StoryFest family book festival about getting children excited about reading from a young age. After mentioning this to an industry colleague, she found herself with three different publishers interested in the book, eventually deciding to go with Currach Press. Her book, "Once Upon a Reader" is set for release this September. In the meantime, you can read Lorraine in her monthly column discussing children and books in the Irish Times.
